Students learn safety from area professionals

4th graders from Hannibal, Monroe City and Ralls County learned about the importance of safety Wednesday.

The students learned from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Hannibal fire department among other area professionals.

The students were shown real life examples about the importance of wearing a seat belt and what to do in case of a fire.

"We’re learning about safe stuff and about how something could happen with a tractor if you put your hands near the blades when the key is on." said Leighton Hudson, a 4th grade student from Stowell Elementary.

Students also learned about being safe with ATV’s. The program was organized by the University of Missouri extension.
