Before you donate to veterans’ charities this Memorial Day, there’s a warning from the Better Business Bureau.
The BBB says do your research — learn about the charity, see if its website is secure and determine how much goes to actual fundraising versus management expenses.
"Make sure you check it out and find out how much of that directly goes to the organization," Mara Clingingsmith with the Quincy Better Business Bureau. "If they’re hesitant to reveal that, maybe you should move on. Ask them how they share your personal information that they collect. iI they’re not willing to do that, you might want to move on as well."
The BBB also reminds the public they can check out a charity at bbb.org
