Next time you’re walking around downtown Hannibal, there’s something new to be on the lookout for: painted fire hydrants.
The painter, Julie Rolsen has been painting them since her Hannibal Hydrant Project was approved in June of 2013.
She says it’s all meant to bring some character to the area and give visitors something interesting to see while they’re downtown.
"I told them [City Council] I’ll try as much as I can to stick with historical fire hydrants. I did Molly Brown, I did a flag, I did a nurse, and today I’m painting a mail carrier.. with little letters in his backpack so that’s kind of fun," said Rolsen.
There are currently 10 fire hydrants painted around Hannibal.
