Championship Wednesday provided lots of highlights at the Pepsi Little People’s Golf Championships. With competition wrapping up Wednesday there were several notable performances from the day including Braden Sladek from Alexandria, Minnesota who won the boys 12-13 division by shooting a combined 135. That was good enough to break a 16-year old record.
"Sladek added, "I look back from last year and all the opportunities that I had to shoot lower and this year I capitalized on all the opportunities I left out their last year to shoot a better score. To shoot the record here means a lot because it’s the best players from all over the Midwest coming here."
Also of note the tri-states were well represented as Hannibal’s Quinn Thomas finished 3rd Wednesday in the boys 12 to 13 division. Thomas is a known commodity on the winners podium after finishing 3rd a year ago in the boys 10 to 11 year old division. Quinn feels that playing in nearby Quincy is an undeniable advantage.
"It’s kind of more fun because you know the course so you have a bit more chance that you could have a chance to win this.So maybe winning this and being close to home is kind of more special," said Thomas.
