Volunteers are needed to spray a preservative and insect repellent on the log cabins on Quinsippi Island on Saturday.
Organizers say the structures need to be sprayed every three to five years to keep insects from destroying the logs, which date back to the 1800’s. On Saturday, four of the log cabins will be treated.
"This wood has been around since the 1800s and we want to keep it longer and the way you do that is to put this kind of preservative on it," said John Gebhardt, president of Friends of the Log Cabins Association.
Volunteers are needed at the log cabins from 8 to noon on Saturday. Organizers say all ages are welcome.
