Quincy man arrested after stealing vehicle

A 20-year-old Quincy man was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel French of Quincy was arrested on Highway 336 just north of the Mendon exit.

Police said they found French at that location in a vehicle that was disabled along the side of the road, after French had reportedly crashed on East Collins Street in Mendon and drove from the scene.

Police said the vehicle at the scene matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the 1100 block of Kochs Lane in Quincy earlier Sunday morning.

French was arrested and taken to the Adams County Jail. He was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, No Valid Drivers License, Failure to Report an Accident, and Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.
