Hannibal man charged with child molestation

The Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton has reported that a Hannibal man was charged with two counts of Child Molestation in the Second Degree on Thursday.

Clayton stated that Robert Branch is charged with having sexual contact outside the clothing of a female under the age of twelve years. The contact allegedly occurred near Palmyra.

Clayton stated that the range of punishment is from 5 to 15 years in prison on each count for a total of 30 possible years in prison.

Branch is currently housed in the Monroe County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond. His first court date has not been set.

Clayton said, “My office is working closely with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as the investigation is ongoing. We’re taking the matter very seriously.”
