National Tom Sawyer Days Kicked Off Saturday

The 63rd annual Tom Sawyer Days event kicked off in Hannibal Saturday.

Events started at 8 a.m.

There are new attractions this year from the baby contest to horseshoe tournaments, and the grand opening of the carnival.

It’s a week long event and organizers said it’s great for the families.

"We have lots of rides for all ages, we have some rides that the adults can ride with their children as well, Ann Sedlmeyr, Carnival Co-Manager, said. Our policy with the merry-go-round is that if the adults hold the child, they do not need an extra ticket on the merry-go-ride."

Organizers say the ferris wheel was bought from Michael Jackson’s Neverland ranch.

Country Singer Dylan Scott performed on the new Tanyard Gardens stage.
