K-9 finds missing child in northeast Missouri

Shelbina Police Department said a K-9 found a missing child in a matter of minutes Saturday night. 

At 11:48 p.m., Shelby County 911 received a call in regards to a missing five-year-old boy from a large apartment on the north side of town. 

The Shelbina Police Department, with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Shelbina Fire Department, Shelby County 911, and Troop B Dispatch Personnel, began a search to locate the missing child because there are woods and fields around the apartments. 

K-9 Zuko took officers directly to the missing child. Chief Jerry Fenton said the boy was located in 20-25 minutes around 12:30 a.m. 

The child was found unharmed and reunited with his family.

Chief Fenton said The use of K-9 Officers continues to be a vital asset for law enforcement, with reducing the time children are at risk.
