A construction crane used to demolish a former Monroe City school toppled Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 2:15 p.m. at the former Holy Rosary School site at Main and Lawn Street.
Monroe City Fire Chief Rich Enochs said crews were trying to move a metal beam from inside the old school but it was too heavy. As a result, the crane tipped on its side, spilling diesel fuel. Chief Enochs said the fuel was cleaned up and no one was hurt.
Crews called in larger equipment to get the toppled crane upright.
