A workout challenge to raise money for veterans

For the entire month of July, the YMCA is having a workout challenge to see who can complete it the fastest.

It’s called the Freedom Trail. Racers will complete ten different workouts including 50 pull ups, a 50 kettle bell swings, and 50 burpees with pushups. Racers can complete the challenge as many times as they want with a donation each time. This is all in effort to raise money for the Great River Honor Flight.

"Most of my friends are veterans and I see them going through a lot of things that are kind of tough here and there, so I am doing if for them and for the community as well," said Steve Ybarra a participant.

"I actually got to be apart of the Honor Flight on June 9 this year," said Heather Williams a participant. "I got to go with my mother she’s a Vietnam Vet and it’s just a wonderful experience for everybody, the veterans, the volunteers. Everybody gets to enjoy and reflect on all those moments in history."

The fastest male, female, and youth under the age of 17 will be awarded prizes to see if you can complete the challenge the fastest go the Quincy Family YMCA.
