The new Adams County Coroner was sworn in to office on Wednesday.
John Myers replaces Jim Keller who resigned last month amid a drug and misconduct investigation.
Myers has spent more than 30 years in law enforcement and emergency management.
He said he’s already responding to various reports and signing cremation permits for funeral homes and hopes to bring a new outlook to the office.
"We can’t be looking back, we need to be looking forward," Myers said. "We have to correct whatever mistakes are being made and put changes, procedures, and policies into place to move ahead and ensure the public’s trust in our office."
Myers will fill the position until the November election.
He plans on running for coroner on the republican ticket to fill the jobs for the next two years.
