Rauner signs laws to speed up veterans’ home construction

The plan to fix the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy is now on the fast track, according to lawmakers.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed two bills into action Tuesday regarding the vets home.

The first is meant to speed up construction of the home by having the same team design and build the new facility.

The second includes Sycamore Healthcare in the list of facilities operated by the Illinois Veterans’ Home.

Rauner’s administration is working towards a plan to rid the Vets’ Home of Legionnaires’ disease, which contributed to the death of 13 veterans since 2015.
