The Fort Madison Fire Department is still trying to determine what caused a fire on Avenue E Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to 1921 Avenue E around 12:30 and saw fire coming from the back porch and roof of the home.
Chief Joey Herren said the fire was contained to the back of the home but they don’t know what sparked it.
"It could’ve been some of the materials back there with the cleaning rags and stuff like that, we aren’t real sure," Herren said. "We contained it to the 10 foot porch area and it’s got some water and fire damage."
Officials say no one was hurt. The family is able to stay in the home tonight since the damage was contained quickly.
