Quincy man arrested for a string of gun store burglaries

A Quincy man is now in custody after police said they caught him breaking into a local gun store for the third time.

Quincy Police have reported the arrest of Darion Simms, 18 just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning after they spotted him leaving Prevailing Arms at 510 South 9th St.

They were responding to a burglary in progress call, Police stated.

Police later linked Simms to two other break-ins at the gun store in June where firearms, ammunition and cash was stolen.

Detectives said Simms was also arrested on a warrant out of the St. Louis area, where one of the stolen guns was found.
