Arrest made, body identified in Lee Co.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday that they had made an arrest and identified the body of a female found on Sunday in rural Lee County.

The Sheriff’s Office stated Monday that the body has been identified as Sadie Alvarado, 20, of Muscatine, Iowa. She was found dead just before 11 a.m. Sunday on 235th Avenue, south of West Point, Iowa.

Authorities said Damian Hamann, 28, of Morning Sun, Iowa, turned himself in Sunday and was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in a Death.  

The Sheriff’s Office did not reveal the circumstances of the death. An autopsy has been scheduled on Tuesday at the University of Iowa’s Decedent Care Unit. 

This is a joint investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Attorney’s Office and the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
