Parents, while you are making your student’s back-to-school checklist, some of you may need to add immunizations to the list.
The Adams County Health Department said kindergarteners, sixth and twelve graders are required to have a few immunizations. The health department said they offer the shots or you can go to your doctor.
"Some of the county schools require kids to have their vaccines as soon as they return to school," says Erin Jennings, Clinical Nursing Supervisor. "There is an Illinois state law that they must have them by October 15, otherwise they are excluded from school."
Depending on the grade your student may also need an eye and dental exam and a physical.
Students in Missouri and Iowa must show proof of immunizations before they start school in order to attend.
