Sutherlands lowers price on closed store

There’s new hope the closed Sutherlands in Hannibal storefront could be bought.

Sutherlands is lowering the price of their former store off Stardust drive by over half a million dollars, bringing the new asking price to just under $2 million.

The building has been vacant since Sutherlands closed in 2014. George Walley, Executive Director of the Northeast Missouri Economic Development Council said according to Sutherlands the building is in fantastic condition and could even potentially be divided into multiple storefronts.

"It’s the highest traffic count intersection because of the schools more than anything else and the access to the other shopping centers, but it’s a very good location and Sutherlands knows that so this should help market the building," said Walley.

Walley also said according to some consultants he deals with, the previous price on the building was a little too high for their investment formulas, so the lower price could help the property sell quicker.
