The Quincy community came together Thursday night to make back to school a success.
It was the Summer on 6th Back-to-School block party on 6th Street downtown Quincy. Organizers collected school supplies and filled a school bus.
Those who donated received a discount card to use at downtown stores. The donations go to Quincy Public Schools.
"So many kids are not that fortunate that have new school supplies in their book bags ready to go. What we want to do here on 6th street promenade is give kids that assurance, get them excited for school. We want people to shop local, but we have to remember we have to give local as well," said organizer Kristin Dreasler.
If you didn’t get a chance to donate school supplies but would still like to, you can call the board office.
