Fire damages Quincy apartment building

Quincy firefighters were called to an apartment fire on the city’s north side early Friday morning.

About 4:15 a.m. crews were called to 828 N. Sixth St.

A Quincy police officer on scene said two people who lived in the building made it out safely. The officer said two the house was divided into two apartments. He said the fire started in the second floor apartment. No word yet on what started the fire.

A WGEM crew on scene said heavy damage could be seen on the second floor from the outside of the house.
