Knapheide hiring dozens of new workers

Knapheide Manufacturing announced this week they’re looking to hire as many as 70 people, both with and without experience.

"The biggest need is MIG welding, we could probably hire fifty MIG welders today if they showed up on our doorstep," said Jim Rubottom, Vice President of Human Resources, "we’re looking to hire 50 to seventy employees, primarily MIG welders but we also have machine operation type jobs, forklift, material handling, painting are key production positions we’re looking for."

Officials said they’re getting a lot more orders at the plant, and they need more help to catch up.

"Our sales have been strong, our backlog of orders continue to grow, we just need to fill all the holes in to meet customer demand," said Rubottom.

They said they need more people like James Howard, who has worked as a welder with Knapheide for 5 years.

"We always need new people," said Howard who enjoys the benefits the company offers. "I like the clinic and I like the Medtrax insurance we have."

Knapheide officials said while many of the positions they’re hiring for are entry level, there’s a lot of opportunities to move up.

Like Mason Peter, who says he started as a painter last September.

"By December I had worked up to the second shift coaching position I’m in now," said Peter, "Knapheide has already proven here you have the opportunity to move up fast."

Knapheide officials said many of the jobs start at just over $15 an hour, but that can rise to $17 dollars an hour based on experience.

Officials at the plant say if you want to apply to these new positions, you can pick up an application at the plant off of North 24th street or go online to the Knapheide website here.
