Families flocked to downtown Quincy Saturday to do some back to school shopping and save some money at the same time.
The Tax Free Shop Hop saw 16 local businesses participate. Stores offered specials every item purchased was tax free. Business owners said there was a lot of foot traffic and everyone was able to find the right item for the first day of school next week.
"It’s been consistently busy all day," said The Sweet Apricot Shop employee Drew Tushaus. "We’ve had a lot of traffic in and out of the shop. A lot of people coming in just to look around and a lot of people buying stuff for back school. A lot of families in here too."
The District’s Executive Director Bruce Guthrie said the next Shop Local Saturday will be on November 24 and it’s part of the nation-wide event, Small Business Saturday.
