Veterans and their guardians met in Hannibal this afternoon to prepare for Mission 49 of the Great River Honor Flight.
30 veterans will go on the flight to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C., and 25 served in Vietnam and 5 served in Korea. Richard Sederwall is an army veteran, but chose to spend his time on the honor flight as a guardian for a dear friend instead.
"I’m going as a guardian for my friend David Goodwin, who is a Vietnam veteran who lost his leg in combat during Vietnam," Sederwall said. "So it’s a special honor for me to go and take Dave and be his guardian."
Sederwall is excited for the opportunity.
The vets leave early in the morning on Saturday from Hannibal La Grange University.
