In Shelbyville, all eyes will be on the Raiders of North Shelby this season as they face another daunting task in the 8-man football arena.
Last season the Raiders dropped their last two games of the season to finish the season at 3-7 overall.
The red and gold posted a 1-4 slate on the road and a 2-2 mark playing at home.
This is the Raiders third year playing the 8-man game and while there was certainly a learning curve for everyone involved, the NSHS staff feels that the program is on solid ground.
They boast a 26 man roster where as three years ago in their last 11 man season they had less than 15 players.
This team has a solid grasp on the differences of the game.
Senior linebacker and running back Mason Uhlmeyer said, "We’ve had jamborees at the start of every year and this jamboree that we just had this year has been by far one of the best ones that we’ve had since we started eight-man and I feel really confident in our abilities this year."
North Shelby opens the season Friday at Northwest.
