The food service department at Quincy’s Chaddock School gave kids hands-on experience with making healthy choices.
Around a dozen students took part in Chaddock’s first food show on Tuesday. Students sampled different types of proteins, soups, and created their own trail mix.
The event also featured a fruit education table with exotic fruits, and Hy-Vee brought a table for special diets.
"They can make healthy choices through life and share with their peers about food nutrition and healthy eating habits," said Food and Nutrition Manager at Chaddock Sarah Anderson, "also so they can participate in giving suggestions and building their confidence throughout life with food."
Sarah Anderson also said Chaddock plans to make the food demonstration a yearly event that happens in August.
