The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri awarded $118,554 in competitive grant funding to 51 non-profit organizations.
Groups applied for competitive grant and were selected by a committee of volunteers. The foundation serves the following 12 counties: Adams, Brown, Hancock and Pike in Illinois and Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, Knox, Shelby and Monroe in Missouri.
The grants are awarded for needs and opportunities in the areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education, health and human services, according to the Community Foundation.
"We see all of our non for profits as partners to support them and support the good work that they’re doing so that it builds up all of our communities," Catherine Bocke Meckes, Development & Outreach Director for the Community Foundation said.
The Quincy Hospitality House is receiving $1,000 and the house provide patients and their families an affordable place to stay, while receiving health care in Quincy.
The grant will be used to pay the utility bills and housekeeping at the home, according to coordinator Becky Albert.
"We are so grateful for the community’s support behind us because without that we wouldn’t be able to survive we need the community support.," Albert said.
The checks will be awarded during a presentation at the Quincy Art Center on Wednesday, August 22 at 9:00 a.m.
