Mussel survey paves way for Hannibal riverfront development

Hannibal’s riverfront project is a step closer to beginning after a recent mussel survey was completed.

Officials with the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department say they had to survey the area where the project will take place to be sure there were no endangered mussels.

Survey results show no endangered species were found. Officials say those results will be sent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help, now this paves the way for riverfront development.

The mayor says the city hopes to put the entire riverfront project out for bid in September.
