Local not-for-profits organizations in the area were awarded grants Wednesday morning to support various programs and projects.
The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri distributed grants to 51 organizations, totaling a record breaking $118,554 dollars. The grants were awarded at the Quincy Art Center and will go toward supporting a wide range of local and charitable interests.
"It’s important for the Community Foundation to give back because our mission is connecting people who care with causes that matter and since we started twenty years ago, we have been doing that and we have actually given over five million dollars away in order to help those activities," Community Foundation member Heath Richmond said.
The Community Foundation has made more than 3,500 grants totaling more than 5 million dollars since 1999.
