Plans are in place to expand a Quincy nursing home.
At Monday night’s city council meeting, aldermen waived the three readings and passed an ordinance allowing sunrooms to be built on the south side of the cottages at Good Samaritan Home at 21st and Harrison. The idea came about after one of the residents expressed an interest in expanding.
"We as a home supported it," said Michael Duffy, CEO and administrator at Good Samaritan Home. "We want our cottagers to be happy and comfortable in their environment so we proceeded and went to the city. The city approved it."
Duffy says administrators talked with nearby residents and no one opposed the idea. There’s no word yet on when construction will start.
