Quincy woman arrested for Cruelty to Animals

The Quincy Police department has reported the arrest of a Quincy woman on August 20 for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

Police stated that Brittany Tears, 24 was arrested following an investigation that began on August 2.

Police stated information had been provided to them about a deceased dog in a residence in the 1300 block of North 9th St. Patrol officers, along with Animal Control, began looking into the allegation.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence and was executed at about 3:30 p.m. on August 2.

During a search of the residence, officers located the remains of a brindle colored dog inside a kennel inside the residence. The investigation continued, and on August 14th police obtained an arrest warrant for Tears for the charge of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

Tears was lodged in the Adams County Jail.  According to court records, Tears posted 10% of the $3,000.00 bond on August 24 and was released.
