QPS reacts to nationwide Epipen shortage

An Epipen can mean life  or death to people with allergies, but many could soon expire and the recent shortage could make it hard to get a replacement.

Quincy Public School officials said there’s an emergency Epipen in every office in case something happens to a student, and that for the time being they won’t need new ones.

"We have about a handful of students that are waiting on their Epipens that are back-ordered," said QPS Nursing Director Brandy Kirby, "we do have that covered though because we have stock Epipens in every office."

FDA officials said you can look op expired Epipens online to see if they’re usable for up to four months past their expiration date for now,  and that the shortage is expected to end soon.
