The YMCA in Quincy is in need of volunteers for their after school program. They currently have around five volunteers and would have at least 15, according to Marketing Direct Michelle Terwelp.
Volunteers would assist children in kindergarten through 8th grade with homework and interactive activities to help with social growth, according to YMCA staff.
"You might make a different in a child’s life, they might go home to their parents and say I had a wonderful volunteer who helped me today," Terwelp said. "So it’s not only a feel good program, for person that they are helping but it’s also for the adult that’s volunteering."
The YMCA is looking for volunteers at least 18 years old and who can pass a background check, along with a passion for helping children.
If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, stop by the YMCA Quincy located at 3101 Maine St or call Kristie Fuller at (217) 222-9622 ext. 225.
The YMCA is also still accepting children for the after school program. YMCA staff says families can apply for assistance with payment.
