Hannibal is gearing up for another festival, one of the biggest of the year.
Access to Main Street will be cut off early Friday morning so organizers with the big River Steampunk festival can set up.
Officials say the festival, now in it’s fifth year, is growing at a rapid pace. This year they expect around 10,000 people to come to town for the weekend.
"It’s really important to our community to continue to build on those festivals and expand and increase that season of visitors coming to Hannibal. The more times people come here and have a great experience, the more times they want to come back and that just lifts up all of our businesses that depend on tourism," said McKenzie Disselhorst with the Hannibal Chamber of Commerce.
While the festival gets underway Friday evening. The big River Steampunk Main Street Parade kicks things off officially on Saturday at 10 a.m.
