A plan is moving along in McDonough County to make sure everyone in the county is aware in an emergency.
City officials from Macomb, Bushnell and Blandinsville discussed last week a proposal to extend emergency notifications through phone and email to the entire county.
Right now, many rural areas don’t receive notices in an emergency situation. Macomb mayor Mike Inman said everyone is on board, but plans aren’t finalized yet.
"Many of us are in the middle of our existing fiscal year, there would be some discussions probably in the first quarter of next calendar year that would lead to some opportunities to see what funding is out there," Inman said.
Inman said they will continue to meet and discuss options, but nothing has been decided yet. He said they are working on splitting the cost and exploring all options of the new system.
