Jury selection began Monday for the Antonio Sanchez murder trial.
The selection process took place at the Hancock County courthouse in Carthage, Illinois.
12 people were on the bench but only 4 have been selected to the jury. So far, 2 men and 2 women have been selected to be on the jury.
The court is trying to get to 16, with 12 jurors and 4 alternates.
The judge told the panel that he hopes to have opening statements begin by Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The attorneys have been asking the potential jurors about being honest and fair, firearms and experiences using them, alcohol and drugs, and being able to listen to the facts without media reports and other conversations changing that view.
Jury selection is still in progress. This story will be updated when more information is available.
