General Mills in Hannibal was shut down Wednesday due to the smell of a chemical odor inside the plant.
Hannibal Fire Department Public Education Coordinator Mark Kempker said that firefighters and the HFD HAZ-MAT team were deployed shortly before noon. He said crews are conducting an investigation to find the source of the chemical odor.
Kempker said no injuries have been reported and there is no danger to the public at this time.
"General Mills got everybody out of the building to allow our team to go in there and investigate the odor," said Kempker.
Kempker said there is no timetable for how long it will take to find the cause of the odor.
