Business helps Quincy family pay child’s hospital bills

A glimmer of hope for a local family trying to raise support to pay for hospital bills after their newborn spent nearly the first month of his life in intensive care.

Bonkers in Quincy held a fundraiser Thursday night to support the VanCamp family. Oliver VanCamp was born June 15, 2018. Doctors diagnosed Oliver with a heart defect.

Mom Ashley VanCamp says insurance only pays so much for Oliver’s surgeries and the fundraiser will be a big help to pay for his treatments.

"We’re just so thankful," said VanCamp. "So many people have had a hand in making sure that we feel comfortable and that we’re supported in so many ways,  people we know and people we don’t. There have been thousands of people praying for him."

Fifty-percent of the Thursday night’s play maze entry profits at Bonkers went to the VanCamps. VanCamp says Oliver goes back to the hospital next month for another check up.
