New traffic and walkway lights scheduled to go in near S. Maple Ave and Broadway near Holy Family School in Hannibal are still on hold while the Board of Public Works waits on more parts.
BPW Officials said traffic light poles are the last pieces they need to install the new lights. The walkway lights aim to keep students at Holy Family School safer while crossing the street to the school’s playground. Officials said the time it takes to get these poles varies due to demand, and could take two weeks to three and a half months to arrive.
"So we’ve got some parts in already, we have the lights, we’ve got the controller, the cabinets, and then the next time is what we can do while we’re waiting on these poles, is go pour the cement," said Public Relations Coordinator Kari Goodman.
Public works officials said that once they get the full specifications for the poles, they’ll be able to lay concrete so when the poles are delivered. The lights will be installed in around two days.
