Tri-State residents are on standby to assist in relief efforts for Tropical Storm Florence.
Hannibal Board of Public Works officials said they have a team of linemen on standby to go to the strike zone if needed.
Officials said if the Hannibal team goes to North Carolina, there’s no telling how long they will be gone.
"I’d say the big sacrifice is being away from their families for a couple weeks or a month. You know, wife, kids, home life, that stuff. They’ll be there working 16 hour days daylight to dark come back worn out and miss a month of family time," said BPW manager Heath Hall.
BPW crews are not the only ones on standby this weekend. American Red Cross and Salvation Army volunteers from Quincy are also ready to jump into action if needed.
