Around 300 people came out to the first ever Hannibal Walk to End Alzheimer’s event Saturday morning.
Participants met at Admiral Koontz Armory to walk through the Sodalis Nature Preserve, which is south of the Dempsey dog park and Bear Creek.
The Alzheimer’s Association said around 5.7 million Americans of all ages are living with the disease this year.
“We are out for the walk to end Alzheimer’s for the Hannibal area, it’s their very first walk, basically just coming out raising awareness for Alzheimer’s, get people together who are going through the same type of things they’re going through day to day, sharing our stories,” said organizer Stephanie Worf.
The walk is part of more than 600 annual Walks to End Alzheimer’s events that take place nationwide.
