A new plan unveiled Tuesday will bring more businesses and strengthen Lee County’s economy.
It’s called Lee County 2023, Forward Together.
Local businesses and county leaders were at the announcement at the Quality Inn and Suites in Fort Madison.
It’s a five year plan from the Lee County Economic Development Group.
They said the goal is to support existing building, their expansion efforts, develop ways to attract skilled workers and expand training programs.
Also, there’s a push to expand outreach marketing to new types of industries.
"We are looking to raise $1.3 to $1.6 million dollars to help fund our organization," Dennis Fraise said. "We are a public/private partnership. Half our funding comes from the lee county board of supervisors and the other half comes from private entities. We do a lot of work with top 20 manufacturers. We are a manufacturing county."
So far, the group has raised $875,000 dollars from 24 investors.
That is 67 percent of their goal.
They hope to raise the remainder over the next five years.
