Area senior citizens learn emergency preparedness

Area seniors now have a better idea on how to protect themselves in emergency situations.

The Quincy Area Senior Resource Network held a free senior safety fair Thursday evening at the Quincy Senior & Family Resource Center.

Some of the topics covered were fall prevention and health and fitness. Organizers say these topics are especially important because this month in national preparedness month.

“Talk to them about emergency preparedness,” said Mara Clingingsmith with the Better Business Bureau of Quincy. “What you can do in the case of scams, in the case of storms, any type of preparedness you can get whether it’s safety in your home or safety in your daily life.”

Guest speakers included representatives from Ameren, Quincy Family YMCA and Adams County Ambulance.
