Local elementary students benefit from school supplies drive

Students at Berrian Elementary are getting use out of a donation of school supplies dropped off Tuesday morning.

The Quincy Family YMCA collected paper and Clorox wipes through a membership drive in September.

More than 40 items were delivered to Berrian Tuesday morning. Even though the need for paper and Clorox wipes may seem minimal, school officials say those are the some of the most sought-after items in the classroom.

“The wipes are going to keep everything clean and kids healthy so they can be at school every day,” said Berrian Principal Chrissy Cox. “We’re very appreciative for community services that the YMCA offers to our students.”

Last month the YMCA waived fees for new members to join the gym if they donated wipes or copy paper.
