Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber has reported the recovery of a body from Pollmiller Park Lake.
Weber stated the body is that of Donald Kobs, 85, of Danville, Iowa, who has been missing since around noon on Thursday.
Deputies located a vehicle at the boat ramp registered to Kobs. Also located near the parking area was a chair and fishing gear with the keys to the car and a wallet belonging to Kobs.
With the assistance of the West Point Fire Department, Keokuk Fire Department and the West Point Police Department a search was started at the lake in an attempt to find Kobs. The search lasted early into the night and into the morning hours stopping due to weather.
Weber stated that the search began again at daybreak on Friday. With the use of Lee County K9 Gunner, it was apparent that Kobs walked from his car to the dock. No other scents were tracked leaving the area.
Weber stated the use of side scan sonar from two Department of Natural Resources boats were used along with scuba gear.
The body of Kobs was recovered and examined by the Lee County Medical Investigator.
The official cause of death is pending due to the possibility of an autopsy being performed at a later date. No foul play is suspected.
