The Quincy Park District is taking steps to expand the Bill Klingner Trail from 18th to 24th Streets
Bids for that part of the trail project originally came in almost $300,000 over budget.
The Parks Department says they cut parts of the plan to bring it down under budget. This comes after last month, the board authorized staff to start working on the design and engineering of the trail from 5th Street to Bonansinga Drive.
“Next year with good weather,” said Quincy Park District Executive Director Rome Frericks. “You could see both sections of the trail under construction. Then by spring of 2020 have Bill Klingner Trail from the Bonansinga Drive which is the Bottom Road all the way to underneath the bridge on 24th Street to Wisman lane.”
Parks officials say that part of the project will be put out for new bids in the next few weeks.
