Quincy Blue Devils Celebrate Senior Night On The Soccer Pitch

This evening in the Gem City, Quincy High squared off against Gateway Soccer Academy from Granite City in their season finale.

QHS also honored the 11 members of the Class of 2019 on the squad during Senior Night at Flinn Memorial Stadium.

Early in the first half, QHS (SR) Drew Figge tried to score but was denied by the Gateway Keeper as the game remained scoreless.

Later in the first, Blue Devil (SR) Jaeden Smith had a great shot on goal by was also denied by a super save.

Gateway Soccer Academy had a free kick in the first half but QHS Keeper Jake Happel came up with a great save of his own to keep the game scoreless.

Late in the first half, Gateway Soccer Academy’s William Telfer fired a shot top shelf and found the back of the net. QHS trailed 1-0 at the half.

Quincy gave up another goal in the second half with just 20 seconds left in the game.

QHS fell to defeat at home as time expired 2-0.

Blue Devils close out the regular season at (13-7).

Quincy will return to action next Tuesday in Collinsville, Illinois.

That’s where QHS will face Alton in the Regionals.
