Registration open for local breast cancer walk

Local downtown Quincy businesses are coming together to help raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. You can be a part of it too.

“Everyone in some way has been touched by breast cancer, whether it’s a friend, a loved one, yourself, anyone like that. I don’t think you can hardly find anybody out on the street that as not been touched by it in some way,” said event coordinator, Joy Berhorst.

Registration is now open for the 12th annual “Pink Pass it on in the District 5-K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness.” All money raised will go to the Blessing Breast Cancer Financial Assistance to help local women battling breast cancer.

“They buy gas cards,” said event coordinator, Joy Berhorst. “People that don’t have insurance and even people that do have insurance. They help cover different ways that they could help you with the financial assistance.”

The 5K walk will take place on Saturday, October, 27 at Washington Park. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. You will be able to pick up your t-shirt on Friday evening, October 26, at the Maine Center.

Organizers are asking for a minimum donation of $24 when you register.
