Sun Boxes bring music to JWCC

Music filled the air outside on John Wood Community College’s campus on Thursday.

As the sun boxes made their next stop on their tour around the community this month. There are twenty speakers that generate power through solar panels to play a guitar chord. The sun boxes were made by Craig Colorusso, a sound artist from Arkansas. An arts assistant professor says it brings art and music into the community.

“It’s a wonderful way to integrate art into everyday life,” said Addie Seabarkrob, assistant professor. “Some people think art is just for the elite few, but really everything that we do culturally has an artistic aspect.”

If you missed the sun boxes on Thursday, they will be at the Quincy Art Center Friday and Saturday from 9:30 am to 3:30 p.m. They will continue to move around Quincy throughout the rest of the month.
