A northeast Missouri community is helping veterans get to their respective war memorials in Washington, D.C.

VFW Post 4342 in Kahoka raised money for the Great River Honor Flight during a fish fry September 22, which was part of Old Settlers Day.

On Monday, the post presented the Honor Flight with a check for $600 and discussed the support they’ve received in Kahoka.

“Actually they appreciate what the veterans have done for them. people come out and donate with no set charge. we do really good and people care. and anytime we advertise the honor flight it seems to do much better and we sure appreciate that,” said Chuck Jenkins with VFW Post 4342

The final Great River Honor Flight of 2018 is this Saturday, October 20th, departing from Hannibal La Grange University. It’s the 51st mission overall since the program began in 2009.
