A motorcyclist from Nebo, Illinois is dead after a crash on a Pike County, Illinois highway Monday night, according to Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty.

Petty said at 6:23 p.m. Randy Clendenny, 59, was traveling southbound on State Highway 96 just south of Pleasant Hill on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and tried to pass a truck and another vehicle. Clendenny was able to make it past a truck and trailer, Petty said, but hit the driver’s side door of a Ford F-150 driven by Adam Webster, 29, from Gillead, Illinois. Webster was also southbound on Highway 96 and was turning into a private drive.

Petty said the sheriff’s office was dispatched to the scene of a two-car accident.

Paramedics took Clendenny to Illini Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
